What If World

a story podcast for kids

What If World is a storytelling podcast for kids. Each week, Mr. Eric takes a "what if?" question from a friend and spins it into a story just for you!

84 - What if fair Elise and Fred the dog climbed up Mount Everest (and Ginger & Otis got teleported to What If World)?

Lots of new character to meet this week, as Ginger the Loyal and Otis the Aloofest visit What If World and meet Hungry Bungry! Can the misplaced pets get back to What Is World, or will the Oopstone trap them forever?!

Lessons include: good rules are made by people who understand their mistakes, and want to keep you from having to repeat them; pollution is a problem we can only solve together!

What If World is hosted and performed by Eric O’Keeffe and co-edited by Karen Marshall O'Keeffe, with a theme song by Craig Martinson.

81 - What if Fair Elise got really frustrated with Alabaster Zero and teleported him to What Is World? (plus Super Mario & Chickens)

When a stray spell from a frustrated fairy flings Alabaster into the real world, he’ll have to finally take responsibility for his own actions! Will he learn to take his job seriously, or will he be stuck at Mr. Eric’s house forever?

Lessons include: thinking you’re good at something isn’t enough, you have to keep working hard in order to improve; when your goofy antics bother your friends, it’s time to give them a rest

What If World will be performing live at  Children’s Book World in Santa Monica on June 30th! If you live locally, come check it out.

77 - What if parents went to school and kids went to work and my doll Rosa came alive and danced with Fair Elise?

Mr. Eric teams up with Rhea Pechter of Little Stories for Tiny People this week. Fair Elise and Pixacato are fed up with work and school, respectively. Good thing it’s Freaky Friday! Can Fair Elise survive a day in ballet school? Can Pixacato solve the mystery of the missing robot brains? Did Alabaster Zero also get Freaky Friday’d, or does the grizzled cop just really love ballet?

Lessons include: both work and school take a special kind of endurance, we should respect each other’s efforts; parents will always look out for you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look out for them, too!

Our Art Contest Ends June 15th

At least one work will be chosen to inspire a What If Story at the end of June. With parent’s permission, contestants will have their artwork featured in What if World’s Conversatorium, a private Facebook group for fans of the show. Of course, we’ll share first names only. Send a scan or photo of your child’s artwork to whatifworldpodcast@gmail.com or mail it straight to us:

67 - What if puppies had laser eyes and could fly?

Remember when all you wanted was a flying laser puppy and your mom said “You’ll blow our roof off!” Let’s see if the old adage is true.

Lessons include: parents may seem unfair, but they’ll do anything to protect us; lasers are better off left to make believe

64 - What if pictures that you’ve taken in the past turned into movies when you looked at them?

It’s Movietines Day and Alabaster Zero didn’t get a single card from his friends, not that the hard-nosed cop wanted mushy cards... At any rate, he’s determined to solve the mystery of the missing cards with his partner Fair Elise. Can you figure out the twist?

Lessons include: you should tell your friends and family how you feel about them, and maybe show them with a nice gesture now and then!

59 - What if babysitters sat on babies?

Do you remember your first time having a babysitter? Did you wonder what it was going to be like? Zizi, Fair Elise, and Lola the Rabbit let their imaginations get away with them as they try to figure out the mystery.

Lessons include: Our fears are often far worse than the reality, talking out your fears with friends is a healthy exercise.

49 - What if people that I touch go stuff and anything that’s not alive that I touch comes alive?

The awesome powers of Life and Stuff are in Beastie Boy’s tiny paws this week. How can a boy who makes the best of everything enjoy a whiny toothbrush and singing bed?

Lessons include: good people are more valuable than good stuff, giving a little goes a long way

Welcome to The Sky’s the Limit, a summer camp in the clouds. Pixicato is dreading her first sleepaway camp, while Lola the Rabbit has saved her pennies all year in order to get here. Will they be able to find enough common ground to get along? Can Camp Counselor Curt Cumulus keep cloud crowd control? Quite the conundrum!
