What If World

a story podcast for kids

What If World is a storytelling podcast for kids. Each week, Mr. Eric takes a "what if?" question from a friend and spins it into a story just for you!

85 - What if Bobby Robot delivered pizza (plus a bunny robot)?

Do you know the story of the Robo-Tortoise and the Rabbot? It’s an old What If World yarn, and Angeli Ferrari of Story Spectacular is going to help retell it! Who will win the Pizza Makelivery Race, Bobby Robot or Miley Rabbot?

Lessons include: Strive to add a personal touch and make real connections, and everything you do can be more enjoyable; never underestimate your peers

Join What If World on Patreon! Patron episodes are always Ad-Free & Released Early, with Higher Quality Audio! You can also get a live shout out from your favorite character, bonus stories, snail mail from Mr. Eric, and a much better chance of having your question turned into a story!

What If World is made by Eric O’Keeffe, and edited & produced by Eric O’Keeffe with help from Karen Marshall O'Keeffe. Our theme song is by Craig Martinson and our artwork is by Jason O’Keefe.

79 - What if unicorns turned to rocks when they’re shy and a magical fairy came and didn’t make unicorns shy (and aliens controlled us like puppets)?

Emmatrice Widdle Pony Unistony has been shyly hiding as a stone in the woods until Fairien the Fairy Alien comes to take over the worl – ahem – make a new friend. Can Fairien be a good friend and respect Emma’s shyness, or will he forget the whole thing and conquer What If World?

Lessons include: safety is about learning the smartest way to try something new; fun can be big and loud or little and quiet, you should try a bit of both; make sure you always respect your friends’ boundaries
If you enjoyed this week’s story, please check out Greg Webb’s Purple Rocket Podcast! A big thanks to Greg for voicing the character of Fairien.

77 - What if parents went to school and kids went to work and my doll Rosa came alive and danced with Fair Elise?

Mr. Eric teams up with Rhea Pechter of Little Stories for Tiny People this week. Fair Elise and Pixacato are fed up with work and school, respectively. Good thing it’s Freaky Friday! Can Fair Elise survive a day in ballet school? Can Pixacato solve the mystery of the missing robot brains? Did Alabaster Zero also get Freaky Friday’d, or does the grizzled cop just really love ballet?

Lessons include: both work and school take a special kind of endurance, we should respect each other’s efforts; parents will always look out for you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look out for them, too!

74 - What if there was no moon?

Just when What If World got it’s sun back, the moon goes missing! Thank goodness Mr. Eric will have some help from Lindsay and Marshall from Tumble Science Podcast for Kids to answer this question. Here’s a hint: were-creatures won’t be happy…

Lessons include: if you don’t understand the world around you, it’s harder to affect positive change; being rude to get your way will always have negative consequences.

In case you missed it, we now have a P.O. Box! Mr. Eric will be happy to share your letters and drawings online (excluding personal information, of course) or use them to inspire his next story!

71 - What if George Washington had Fred the Zombie Dog as a pet and Alexander Hamilton were alive as a vampire?

Have you heard the latest Oddway hit, Vampirton? It’s a super fresh collabo between Mr. Eric and Mick Sullivan of The Past and the Curious! Okay, okay, it’s not a musical, but stick around to the end of the story... And Lin Manuel Miranda, eat your heart out! 100% kidding, we’re not worthy.

Lessons include: people are easily distracted by cuteness and hilarity, but patience and loyalty are what make lasting friends; you shouldn’t have to imitate others in order to earn approval

69 - What if ants could dance and people could turn invisible?

In this insect-creible episode, Mr. Eric teams up with Andrew and Polly of Earsnacks to jam in the garden. Two lonely insects think they’re invisible until they discover a very unusual guitar and the joy of music!

We hope you enjoy our biggest team-up story to date and check out one of our favorite kids’ podcasts: Earsnacks.

Lessons include: Sometimes grown-ups may be too busy to give you constant attention, but that doesn’t mean you’ve been forgotten; express yourself in a positive way is sure to spread joy and attract the attention of friends with shared interests

68 - What if giants could turn into fairies and fairies could turn into giants?

Improv comedian Sydney Hollis joins Mr. Eric for a 100% improvised story. Let’s take a trip to Wentbridge Academy and see if we can’t bust some giant myths! And after you’ve enjoyed the story, step up your fashion game with Sydney’s unforgettable Straw Couture line ;)

Lessons include: Giants don’t have to be manly and fairies don’t have to be feminine, we should all enjoy and accept each other and try new activities together!

Patrons - check out our blog on Patreon for 2 minutes of exclusive bloopers & a behind the scenes look at the making of this episode!

39 - What if ninjas could turn into animals?

On his first day of Ninjagarten, Teddy thinks he’s already the best ninja ever, but he’s got a lot to learn before he can turn into an animal like his teacher, Good Climber.

Lessons include: it takes time and effort to master a skill, imagination can help you sympathize with others, some learning needs to happen independently

33 - What if snakes had feathers and birds had scales?

It’s our very first Guest Story! Miss Karen (WiW’s editor/producer) and Mr. Eric team up to tell a story about fashion, acceptance… and dragons? When birds and snakes trade feathers and scales, the now cuddly snakes turn into New What City’s hottest new wardrobe accessory. Can the scaly birds save their feathery friends? Let’s find out!

Lessons include: embrace who you are on the inside, don't take credit for other people's work, fashion trends don’t have to be cruel, try to learn about other cultures wherever you go
