What If World

a story podcast for kids

What If World is a storytelling podcast for kids. Each week, Mr. Eric takes a "what if?" question from a friend and spins it into a story just for you!

76. What if cheetahs could jump the sky?

Chentle is the fastest of all the cheetahs, but she also wants to be the best climber of all the ninjas and the best flyer of all the rocket ship houses. Can she be the best at everything, and will she be happy when she leaves everyone else in her dust?

Lessons include: being more talented or privileged than others doesn’t make you better than them; no individual, no matter how exceptional, is better than a community of well-rounded people.

Join our brand new Facebook group What If World's Conservatorium for conversation about kid's media and education with Mr. Eric and other parents in the community!

75. What if leaves called big armies and the zombie apocalypse happened?

When Dracomax doesn’t get his rest, his dragon breath goes haywire. Will he take a nap and have some soup, or will What If World end again?

When Dracomax doesn't get his rest, his dragon breath goes haywire. Will he take a nap and have some soup, or will What If World end again? Lessons include: there's nothing "tough" about hiding your feelings, being honest about your emotions takes real bravery!

74. What if there was no moon? (with Tumble Science Podcast)

Just when What If World got it’s sun back, the moon goes missing! Thank goodness Mr. Eric will have some help from Lindsay and Marshall from Tumble Science Podcast for Kids to answer this question. Here’s a hint: were-creatures won’t be happy…

Lessons include: if you don’t understand the world around you, it’s harder to affect positive change; being rude to get your way will always have negative consequences.

In case you missed it, we now have a P.O. Box! Mr. Eric will be happy to share your letters and drawings online (excluding personal information, of course) or use them to inspire his next story!

73. What if Mr. Eric answered the longest question ever?

Our Earth Day special is tying up some loose ends from our April Fool’s special, where the sun got stolen! Too bad all of What If World is SOLAR POWERED… but maybe that’s the least of their troubles. Can Petrina, Abacus, JFKat, and Mr. Mouser get the sun back from the clutches of the not-so-dreaded Phoenix Taco?!

Lessons include: renewable energy is plentiful enough to power a whole world; if you have a caring elder or grandparent in your life, they are deserving of your respect and gratitude.

72. What if jellybeans worked at a grocery store?

Meet Mr. Bean and his daughter Julie Bean, who run a little grocery store that brings out the silly in people. But when Jesus Ironhands the Fire Lion (a character invented by listener Teddy) brings his own brand of “humor” to the store, things start to heat up!

Lessons include: humor should feel like a friendly trick, not a personal attack; if you don’t know how to joke with a new friend, joking about yourself first can help break the ice.

71. Vampirton! (w/ Mick Sullivan)

Have you heard the latest Oddway hit, Vampirton? It’s a super fresh collabo between Mr. Eric and Mick Sullivan of The Past and the Curious! Okay, okay, it’s not a musical, but stick around to the end of the story... And Lin Manuel Miranda, eat your heart out! 100% kidding, we’re not worthy.

Lessons include: people are easily distracted by cuteness and hilarity, but patience and loyalty are what make lasting friends; you shouldn’t have to imitate others in order to earn approval

70. What if phoenixes turned into tacos instead of ashes?

In our second April Fool’s special, the Wentbridge Timers go up against the Observatorium Grumblers in the biggest (and only-est) basketball game What If World’s ever seen. Pay attention, because the story might try to play some tricks on Mr. Eric.

Lessons include: everyone loses sometimes, but it’s only a true defeat if you let it be; winning doesn’t make you superior to others
